NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: NTA Opens Correction Window for Address and Exam City Update
NTA opens the NEET UG 2026 correction window for address and exam city updates ahead of the June 21 re-exam.
A correction window for the candidates sitting in the re-exam for NEET UG 2026 is provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This step comes after the cancellation of the previous exam of NEET UG 2026 due to leakage of papers and other malpractices in the exam. The re-exam will now be conducted on June 21, 2026, in India.
The correction service will give an opportunity to update your current residential address along with a chance to change your choice of examination city. As per the notice issued by the National Testing Agency, you can choose your top two examination cities, which can help you during the re-examination process.
The decision is a relief for lakhs of NEET aspirants, who were concerned about the travel they would have to make after the examination was unexpectedly cancelled. Many students had gone back home or relocated due to the initial dates of the exam. The new correction period is anticipated to help the aspirants select test centers near their current location.
According to some reports, the correction process opened on May 15 and will close on May 21, 2026. Aspirants will have to visit the NEET website to do the required corrections online. NTA recommends candidates check their details thoroughly before submitting them, since no further scope for correction would be allowed.
The NEET UG 2026 row began following claims that there had been a leakage of the test paper prior to the examination, which was held in May. In light of the demonstrations held throughout the nation and the demand made by the students and their parents, the government launched an inquiry into the incident. Ultimately, the NTA cancelled the test and declared that it would conduct a fresh test.
The educationists have stated that proper security measures will be taken for the re-test. According to sources, a fresh set of questions will be drafted in complete secrecy. Efforts are being made to prevent any irregularity in the examination hall.
This year, the retake process will proceed in pen-and-paper form in offline form. Yet, according to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, NEET UG may be conducted via computers from the year 2027 onwards to increase transparency and prevent paper leaks.
It is recommended to students who wish to appear for the retake that they keep track of NTA and NEET website notifications concerning the release of admit cards and city intimation slips. Sources indicate that new admit cards will be made available in mid-June, while city intimation slips will precede this timeline.
It is also necessary for candidates to make sure that the information provided by them about the updated address and city preference should also be accurate since the allocation of exam centers is expected to be done on the basis of the newly submitted information in the correction period.
NEET UG is one of India’s biggest and toughest entrance examinations in order to get into undergraduate courses in medicine, such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, etc. Each year, thousands of students take up the examination, and it becomes extremely essential that there is clarity and transparency in its conduct.
Now with the reopening of the correction period, students can hope to alleviate themselves from any travel anxiety and concentrate only on the preparation for the retest. It is suggested by experts that aspirants need not panic but revise thoroughly, as there is a lot of misleading information doing rounds on social media.
