CM Takes Action Against IAS Officer Santosh Verma Over Controversial Remarks

Bhopal: The controversy over IAS officer and Anusuchit Jati & Janjati Adhikari Karmachari Sangh (AJJAKS) state president Santosh Verma took a new turn on Thursday night when Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered action against him for alleged professional misconduct.

The general administration department (GAD) decided to recommend to the department of personnel and training (DOPT), Gol that Verma's promotion to the IAS be canceled. They also took him out of his job as deputy secretary of agriculture and put him with the GAD in Bhopal without any work.

An official statement said that Santosh Verma, an officer in the MP state administrative services, had used fake and forged papers to get a job in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).  He is facing criminal charges in several courts.

The last step of a departmental investigation against him is now.  Santosh Verma's response to the show-cause notice in this case was not satisfactory.  He is now getting a charge sheet.  After being elected president of AJJAKS on November 23 in Bhopal, Verma got a lot of attention for his comments about upper castes.  After the comments, groups in MP and other parts of the country spoke out against him, and the state government sent him a show cause notice.
